The Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys is inviting expressions of interest for the coachbuilding of four vehicles for the Mobile Police Station Project.
The successful contractor will be required to satisfy the requirements outlined below:-
— Vehicle and Chassis Citroen Relay with Al-KO Chassis KL1461534,
— Rear unit to be coach built onto the above chassis frame in lightweight materials,
— Whole vehicle not to exceed 3.5 tonnes inclusive of driver and passenger,
— It is anticipated that the rear cabin will measure approximately 2.4 metres by 4.2 metres internally; AL-KO KL1461534 chassis will give a wheelbase of 3 950 mm and overhang of 1 704 mm, overall length of vehicle from front bumper to rear of 6 599 mm approx.,
— A connecting door between the rear cabin and the from cabin (not essential),
— The rear unit should be divided into two areas – one for public access with counter and upper glass partition; one as a ‘private’ area (suitable for 3 people to sit around a table – external access as well – need not be DDA compliant),
— Accommodation for a LED TV,
— Accommodation for communication equipment,
— If possible, a sink area and water heater,
— Battery powered electrical system/generator,
— Solar panel for battery regeneration (optional requirement),
— Wide opening to rear public access,
— Plain, clean finish to the interior of the vehicle,
— Some storage space for First Aid Kit, paper forms etc…,
— Awning to cover external entry to rear cabin (solid construction – possibly hinged on top),
— Ramp access to rear cabin for DDA compliance,
— External LED lighting – rear and both sides of vehicle,
— External floodlighting mast (LED) (optional),
— External branding to requirements of Dyfed-Powys Police,
— Has to be inviting to the public.
The contract will run for a period of two years, with the option to extend for a further period of 12 months, subject to ongoing demand. The initial requirement is for the coachbuilding of four vehicles however this number may be increased if additional funding is made available and the scope of the project is extended. Please note there is no guarantee that the scope of the project will be extended beyond the initial requirement of four vehicles.
