Public Health England’s (PHE) mission is to protect and improve the nation’s health and to address inequalities. PHE is an executive agency of the Department of Health and was formed in April 2013. PHE is committed to going ‘digital first’ as set out in the Department of Health Digital Strategy. PHE are transitioning our 150 websites to GOV.UK (professional facing content) and NHS Choices (citizen facing content). 15 sites will be transitioned by the end of July. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) site www.hpa.org.uk is one of the first 15 sites. It is a large content based site that carries health protection information for the public and professionals. A discovery phase is currently being completed by the PHE digital team and they are starting work on an alpha phase of identifying and rewriting the highest priority content for the HPA site initially. The Potential Provider will support the transition of the HPA site by: • Rewriting content to meet users’ needs • Writing content to the GOV.UK style guide • Ensuring scientific accuracy of the rewritten content by working with PHE health protection scientists • Publishing the content on GOV.UK/phe PHE requires health protection content that meets our users’ needs. We have developed 24 high level user needs We estimate that we will be re-writing 25% of the HPA site. The HPA site comprises of approximately 5000 web pages and 8000 downloadable files such as PDFs. Content has been strictly prioritised for re-writing, according to evidence of user needs. The project is constrained by time, so any high-priority content not re-written during this phase will be moved without being re-written. Medium priority content will be moved to GOV.UK without being re-written, and the rest will be archived.
