The University of Brighton has a number of educational and residential sites within the Brighton area. As part of the University’s plan to achieve their objectives it is proposed to redevelop the Varley Halls of Residence site over a number of phases. This project consists of the second phase which entails the construction of three student residential buildings with a total of 150 bedrooms.
The works will involve the demolition of two buildings and the construction of three new buildings, whilst continuing to deliver the University’s accommodation provision to students. Planning approval has been obtained for the overall development. The University has approved a Stage C design which is now being worked up into detailed design for phase 2 of the project. The University is seeking to appoint a Contractor for the demolition of existing buildings, design and build of three residential buildings. The scope will also include for infrastructure, landscaping and the diversion of roads and services.

Information and formalities necessary for evaluating if the requirements are met: The financial section in the pre-qualification questionnaire will be evaluated as a pass/fail section based on whether the applicant (and if a consortium, SPV or Joint Venture, etc each member organisation) is in a sound financial position to participate in a contract of this size.
(1) All potential providers will be required to provide evidence of relevant professional and contractor risk indemnity insurance;
(2) All potential providers will be required to provide financial statements covering the two previous financial years including an overall statement of turnover and balance-sheets, where publication of the balance-sheet is required under the law of the country in which the potential provider is established.
