The Royal Marsden School is seeking a Higher Education Institution (HEI) to offer a validation service for its cancer-specific programmes, stand-alone modules and related courses. The Royal Marsden School provides excellent education, and is seeking an academic partner who will work alongside the School to maintain and develop the School’s contribution to the development of practitioners working in the changing landscape of health care in the UK and overseas. It is vital that any HEI interested in tendering for this service is economically viable and shares the philosophy and values of the Royal Marsden.
The Royal Marsden School is dedicated to improving the care and support of patients with cancer through education. The School is closely aligned to research and clinical practice; our teaching is evidence-based and research-led. For the past three years, we have been awarded a 100 % rating in London’s QCPM; we strive to ensure that students, commissioners and our education partner have a positive experience from contact with us. We have strong International links and have had contracts to provide cancer and palliative care education with health providers in Malta, Cyprus and the Middle East. The School aspires to extend its current portfolio of education of staff working in Primary Care and Community Services, to help develop integrated care, enhance the care of patients with long term conditions and reduce hospital admissions.
Currently our portfolio includes:
— BSc [Hons] in Cancer Care,
— Graduate Diploma in Cancer Care,
— MSc in Healthcare Practice (Cancer) and MSc in Healthcare Practice (Advanced Practice in Clinical Cancer Care),
— Accredited modules.
The HEI will be expected to carry out the following primary tasks.
— Validate and formally review the programmes,
— Manage the Quality Assurance Processes required by QAA and relevant Professional Bodies,
— Manage the assessment process,
— Appoint and pay external examiners,
— Provide transcripts and award certificates,
— Provide accreditation of prior learning from other institutions,
— Provide administrative support and processes for student enrolment and where applicable, technology database to enable online applications and enrolment.
The HEI will be expected to have a role in curriculum development, student and staff support, in addition to administration support. Further information on the individual tasks can be found within the PQQ document.
