Description

Background

Nottingham City Council (NCC) are required by law to carry out assessments of people who formally express a desire to foster or adopt so as to ascertain whether or not they are suitable to look after children/young people. These assessments must be carried out within specific timescales and failure to do so carries serious sanctions. We are looking for a number of experienced providers to deliver these statutory assessments on our behalf. NCC will remain responsible for recruitment and approval.

Types of providers – We are looking for providers who are experienced in delivering the whole range of assessments and are able to deliver a service locally in Nottingham. In addition providers are required to be registered and be able to undertake DBS checks on behalf of a third party.

We are looking to appoint up to 4 organisations to the framework all of whom should be able to deliver the whole range of required assessments (ie. prospective adopters, foster carers and connected persons/special guardianships).

The assessments are to be undertaken by Qualified Social Workers who are Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) registered with three years post qualification experience within Children’s Social Care. Assessors are required to be competent and confident to represent the organisation at Local Authority Panels and/or Court as required by the commissioner

Expected outcomes
Each child is an individual with their own aspirations and needs, therefore it is only fitting that we recruit and assess a wide range of foster carers/adopters that can meet these needs in a way that each child finds most appropriate.

We expect assessments to be completed within the statutory timeframe to a high quality and with early engagement with children’s social workers to aid early matching. This will deliver well prepared adopters/foster carers for NCC.
