Description of the contract
In December 2013 AHVLA announced a major reorganisation to its Scanning Surveillance operations including the closure of some regional laboratories which will demand new ways of working and a revised approach to the capture of disease surveillance information. IT system enhancements have been highlighted as an enabler to the successful delivery of the change programme, both in the short and medium term. An initial GDS “Discovery” stage provided a high level view of systems requirements and priorities driven by user and stakeholder consultation. The changes not only anticipate a reduction in operating costs, but also an improvement in surveillance data quality and coverage. In summary, the new arrangements should provide better surveillance information as well as reducing costs.
