2 Contract Details

2.1

Title

Cumnock Archaeological and Interpretation Consultancy Services

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

The presence of a gap site in the historic centre of Cumnock, in combination with the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme, provides a unique opportunity to develop a heritage and arts project in collaboration with other stakeholders and partners. In particular it would lend itself well as a focus for exploration and a locus of conversation about the past (and future) of Cumnock amongst the community, with the help of archaeologists, architects and artists etc.

East Ayrshire Council invites project proposals for the design and implementation of an appropriate programme of archaeological investigation and advice including:

1 Exploration of documentary and historical sources relating to the site

2 Limited excavation to reveal the footprint of the demolished building

3 Further excavation to establish what predated the building

4 Temporary exhibits on the project in empty units in town centre and / or Baird Institute
