The project involves the design and refurbishment/ building of Ysgol Y Berwyn, Bala which is located north of the A494 and adjacent to the A4212 (Grid Reference SH926362).
As of September 2010 there were 378 pupils and 28 teachers at the school, and the proposal is to refurbish the school to current building standards and BB99/88, for up to 360 pupils 11 to 18 year old, plus 180 primary (3 to 11) pupils.
The design must allow for EPC — A rating, to be achieved on the refurbished and new build sections of the school.
The general brief is totally refurbish the building to 21 Century standards and BB98/99, flat roof section are of poor condition and are to be demolished and rebuilt as required, the front red brick block is to be demolished and replaced by a new two story block.
This commission is for the full Architectural design and lead consultant for the refurbishment and new build at Ysgol Y Berwyn, Bala, including reports and investigations to satisfy the design requirements and the grant conditions.
The Architectural/lead consultant required will be as the BPF Consultancy Agreement v2.0 for traditional build.
