HM Government is exploring options for delivery of assisted digital services to central government. The Government Digital Service and departments have begun to develop requirements for assisted digital support for digital by default services, as part of the Government Digital Strategy.
Assisted digital support is for service users who are not online, and those who are online but who have limited digital skills. Assisted digital support will either help these users use the digital services themselves, or input these users’ data into the digital service on their behalf.
We anticipate varying levels of support will be required and that this support may be provided by organisations from multiple sectors. It is likely to encompass:
— light-touch support for simpler services or users who are more willing to try digital services;
— more substantial support for more complex services or users who are not familiar with digital services.
We are interested in how assisted digital support can involve an element of learning so that users are encouraged to self-serve in future.
