The minimum scope of the contract is the design, supply of materials, manufacture, assembly, test, delivery, installation and commissioning (without X-rays) of an ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunnelling microscope/atomic force microscope (UHV STM/AFM) to be installed and used at the DLS Beamline I07.

The UHV STM/AFM will be procured under a contract subject to the performance specification.
The UHV STM/AFM is defined as:
1. The UHV STM/AFM hardware.
2. Any additional ancillary equipment including but not exclusively UHV linear transfer arms, tip preparation tools and external support frame for mounting the system during maintenance.
3. Power supplies for 1 and 2.
4. Control and data acquisition software and hardware.
5. Installation, commissioning and training for the complete system at DLS.
6. Sufficient spare parts with long delivery times to guarantee operation of the system with minimum down-time for a period of at least 2 years from the date of final acceptance.
