Microbiological Services at Birmingham and other HPA Laboratories need to deliver automation of the bacterial culture plate incubation and digital imaging processes they currently do manually. In order to pursue this they need to determine the most appropriate way of providing additional automated support to supplement and enhance the current ‘front-end’ automation for the delivery of routine clinical bacteriology.
The system introduced must be capable of interfacing with existing IT systems and other existing automation systems (Previ-isola). At the same time, the system must be capable of future expansion as technology becomes available.
Both automated incubation and digital imaging systems are initially required 2x incubator modules, one for aerobic and one for CO2.
Two systems required initially with up to 13 required during the period of the contract.
