The new headquarters is located north of and directly in front of Cardiff Central Station. The building design is an important gateway image for Cardiff. The building has 5 storeys, plus a large basement. There are 2 entrances — a formal entrance on Wood Street and an entrance opposite the Station. Once inside the building staff and visitors will be able to visibly connect spaces on floors and between floors, including TV Studios.
Rightacres Property Company is responsible for building the shell and core, plus part of the BBC fit-out. They have appointed ISG as their Principal Contractor for this construction work. ISG started construction works on-site in early December 2015 and are scheduled to complete their works by mid-April 2018.
This appointment (Cat A and B) will procure a main contractor. This contractor will be responsible for the delivery of the main internal fit out such as suspended ceilings, mechanical and electrical services, internal surface finishes through to the fit out of the internal space to the BBC’s requirements. This will include all final finishes and branding, creation of offices space, meeting rooms, fitting out reception areas, installation of specialist lighting, fit out of kitchen areas and manage the installation of furniture.

In the case of technology requirements, the BBC may involve its technology partner (Atos IT Solutions and Services Limited) to assist in the scoping and drafting of invitations to tender and/or the evaluation of tenders. However, the final decision as to which is the most economically advantageous (by reference to the award criteria) will be made by the BBC. The awarding authority reserves the right not to award a contract and to annul the procurement process at any stage. Tenders and all supporting documents must be priced in sterling and all payments will be made in sterling. The contract shall be subject to English law. The awarding authority does not bind itself to accept the lowest, or any tender and reserves the right to accept part of a tender unless the tenderer expressly stipulates otherwise in the tender document.
