BBC Design and Engineering’s (D+E) Online Technology Group (OTG) is responsible for the operational management of all the BBC’s internet protocol (‘IP’) based services, devices and networks across all platforms (including cloud, on-premise and virtual machines (VMs), and the performance of these services as perceived by BBC’s end-users/audience. This includes responsibility for the BBC’s owned infrastructure and presence in the public or private cloud and, within that operational management, the responsibility to attain an uptime of 99.99 % for all BBC’s IP based services.

OTG is looking overall to create a flexible monitoring solution that is able to mix and match a number of interoperable monitoring products and hence allow BBC to use ‘best of breed’ products for each function and platform. Therefore, interoperability is key to BBC’s web monitoring services requirements.

In the case of technology requirements, the BBC may involve its technology partner (Atos IT Solutions and Services Ltd) to assist in the scoping and drafting of invitations to tender and/or the evaluation of tenders. However, the final decision as to which is the most economically advantageous (by reference to the award criteria) will be made by the BBC. The awarding authority reserves the right not to award a contract and to annul the procurement process at any stage. Tenders and all supporting documents must be priced in sterling and all payments will be made in sterling. The contract shall be subject to English law. The awarding authority does not bind itself to accept the lowest, or any tender and reserves the right to accept part of a tender unless the tenderer expressly stipulates otherwise in the tender document.
