The chosen site for the Memorial occupies approximately 20 Hectares of land immediately to the West of Ver-Sur-Mer in Normandy, France.
Construction is intended to commence in February 2019 and will be undertaken with Sectional Completion.
Section 1 for Friday 27.5.2019
Section 2 for 3.3.2020 or later, but no later than 31.5.2020.
An inauguration/memorial ceremony to be held on 6.6.2019.
A formal opening/ memorial service is to be held on 6.6.2020.
The scope of the works to be constructed on the site comprise the following:
Section 1 Works
Phase 1 Alpha – to be completed by 27.5.2019
— shrub site clearance of the area immediately affected by the Memorial
— removal of contaminated filling materials immediately affected by the Memorial
— topographical adjustments and works to create road levels, turning circle and access to the Memorial Site.
— installation Sculpture including:
—— Perimeter paving.
— Installation of wreath including:
—— Perimeter paving,
—— Inscriptions to plinth,
—— Site shutdown to allow the MOD to erect viewing stands in readiness for the unveiling service.
—— All sculptures, wreaths, stonework and hand inscription work will be undertaken by Artists and Tradesmen. The appointed contractor will be responsible for co-ordination, arranging site access and attendances for these items and trades.
Section 2 Works
Phase 1 Bravo – to be completed by 31.5.2020
— shrub and site clearance to remainder of Memorial Site and Eastern Site,
— installation of a drainage scheme,
— construction of the Memorial Court including foundations, stonework—, inscriptions — and lighting,
— construction of the Pergola including foundations and stone columns — (but excluding capitals and timberwork),
— paving works to Memorial Court and Pergola,
— construction of Landscaped North Terrace,
— installation of Waymarkers,
— installation of foundations for flagpoles, French Memorial —, Principal Memorial stones — and Steles —
— laying of Cloister lawn,
— planting of Memorial specimen trees,
— construction of Paths,
— completion of roadway from Eastern Site to Memorial,
— formation and planting of grassed areas immediate to the Memorial, paths and roadway,
— construction of Eastern Site, including access roadway, parking, drainage, lighting, incoming services and Memorial Site entrance,
— toilet facilities,
— construction of maintenance building,
—— All sculptures, wreaths, flagpoles, way markers, stonework and hand inscription work will be undertaken by Artists and Tradesmen. The appointed contractor will be responsible for co-ordination, arranging site access and attendances for these items and trades.

Description of particular conditions: The scope of the project will be subject to funding and approval. The Trust reserves the right not to award a contract. Particular amendments to the standard conditions of the contract will be detailed within the tender document.
