Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority are looking to appoint a Design and Build Contractor to undertake the detailed design and construction phases of a new fire station on the existing site at West Ham Close, Basingstoke.
For information purposes the outline design will be undertaken by a design team appointed by Hampshire Fire Rescue Authority. The design team will progress the design through to Planning / RIBA stage 3 (old RIBA stage D). The successful Contractor will then be expected to undertake the detailed design and progress the scheme through to Final Completion. The Contractor will not be expected to novate over the existing design team.
The works will include but not be limited to the demolition of the existing fire station, the construction of an interim facility in order to retain an operational service throughout the construction phase, and the construction of a new fire station on the existing site. The new fire station will also include training, accommodation and office facilities. Further information on the Design and Build scheme can be found within the Pre Qualification Questionnaire.

The scheme will comprise of the design and build of a New Fire Station. At this stage the estimated construction cost of the works in its entirety is likely to be in the region of 4-5m GDP. The successful Contractor will be expected to undertake the detailed design.

Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates: This will be set out in the Contract Documents. However, candidates should note that the Contracting Authority intend to use successive stages under the Competitive Dialogue process. Organisations expressing an interest will be invited to submit a pre-qualification questionnaire, which will be evaluated by the Contracting Authorities using the selection criteria set out in the Contract Documents. This process will allow the Contracting Authorities to shortlist a miniumum of 5 (five) and envisaged 6 (six) to submit Outline Solutions.
