Construction work for military buildings and installations. Construction work for military buildings and installations. The provision of a compliant, fully functioning ‘new build’. The Contract Strategy is DEFCON 2 000 with Authority Design. Scope of Works:
1. HM Naval Base Clyde comprises of HMNB Clyde and RNAD Coulport and is situated on the eastern shore of Gareloch in the District of Argyll and Bute. The primary function of HMNB Clyde is to support the Royal Navy’s nuclear powered submarines, the UK’s strategic deterrent force.
2. The object of this project is to construct a self-contained, stand alone, operational support facility of approximately 2700 sqm over three floors, site area approximately 0.277 hectares in accordance with the Authority’s design (subsequent to detailed design).
3. The facility will provide accommodation and ablutions, to include sleeping accommodation, catering, laundry, training, recreational and specialist storage facilities. The works will include all associated internal and external infrastructure, with the exception of MOD IT/communications installation.
4. The facility will be within the confines of an operational site and as such will need to take cognisance of and not impact upon operations during the full delivery of this Project.
5. The facility will be built upon an existing Brownfield site and will need to incorporate specific security and nuclear implications iaw existing MOD policies.
6. Construction works of the facility are to conform to the provisions of MoD “Vulnerable Structure” criteria; clarification of this requirement will be released at the Invitation to Tender (ITT) stage.
7. Health and safety is paramount to the delivery of this Contract, as is the MoD Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for Environmental Protection and Sustainability.
8. All Contractors’ personnel will need to be security cleared to SC (Security Check) Level by the MoD prior to commencement of the works on site.
