FM Services Project.
This procurement project is to tender for a provider of FM services to provide a combination of Contracted Services for Catering (both Student and Staff), Cleaning and Security Guarding across the University”s Estate. The estate comprises 2 campus”, the main campus at Fernbarrow, Poole and the Lansdowne Campus in central Bournemouth. The estate is c. 1 million square feet (GIA). The University has c. 1 500 staff and c. 17 500 students. The University currently has 3 separate contracts and will be investigating whether it could combine these services to achieve improved value for money including both cost and quality of service improvements for Bournemouth University. This advertised requirement is for different Lots including combination”s of the services or individual service contracts. Due to the likely level of supplier investment required in these contracts the contract period proposed is up to 10 years. More detail will be provided with the documentation in the pre-qualification documentation and the tender documents.

Lot No: 1 Lot title: Catering services

1)Short description

This is our contract catering service, including franchises across the whole of the Bournemouth University estate. The current contractual arrangement is for the counter sales, vending and hospitality sales at the University to generate revenue and income to pay for capital investment in premises and all staff and materials cost to support our strategy in the provision of full catering service provision to both the student and staff bodies of the University. Hence we are looking for a long term contract to facilitate a partnership with a service provider and to allow the successful provider to obtain a return on investment. As a competitive sector, service contracts such as this one are crucial to maintaining the student experience and satisfaction.

Catering Revenue Sales across the University are annually around £1.8m and we are proposing a 10 year contract with agreed break clauses. This is for all catering services to all students, staff meetings/hospitality, vending, and concessions such as Coffee Shops and Branded Food outlets.
Services do not cover Student Union catering or educational catering completed by the School of Tourism.

To provide cleaning services to Bournemouth University. This entails approx 2 000 hours per week overall – across both campus sites. a rough 2/3 to 1/3 split between Talbot campus and Lansdowne campus.

We have a design and engineering facility which does have sawdust waste and some metallic and plastic waste. Plans will be provided with the tender. We are using an input based specification, and as such there is a lot of detail within the tender documents.

Lot 1 – Catering. Estimate of £1.8m revenue sales per annum, and with respect to the contract lifespan and we require 6M GBP annual turnover as a minimum;
Lot 2 – Cleaning. Estimate of £850k expenditure per annum, and with respect to the contract lifespan and we require 3M GBP annual turnover as a minimum;
Lot 3 – Security. Estimate of £350k expenditure per annum, and with respect to the contract lifespan and we require 1.5M GBP annual turnover as a minimum;
Lot 4 – Lots 2 and 3 combined. We require the addition of the individual lots minimums to get the total minimum turnover of 4.5M GBP;
Lot 5 – all three lots – 1,2 and 3 – minimum turnover required is 10.5M GBP.
