Leicester City Council wishes to appoint a certified mediation training provider to train internal mediators and managers.

We already have a number of trained mediators however as we are launching our own internal mediation service we require additional trained and accredited internal mediators.

We are looking for a company that can deliver quality mediation training to an accredited level with the appropriate level of support. The below information provides a more information on the requirements:

Event Title: Certified Mediation Practitioner Training

Target Group: Leicester City Council

Number of staff to be trained per event: 14

Number and length of events: 5 or 6 days

Dates if known: September/October

Venue if known: Leicester City Council training venue


The supplier will be required to provide mediation training to a group of 14 internal staff which leads to an accredited.

The supplier will be expected to have a track record of successful training delivery in this area.

We are looking for a programme which will provide the following:

– An interesting and thorough learning experience based upon sound understanding of different learning styles
– Providing a clear understanding of mediation, its benefits and the role it can play towards improving workplace relationships.
– The appropriate use of mediation – when, where and why.
– The mediation process
– Developing the skillset for successful mediations
– An opportunity to learn and practise the skills to carry out mediations using skills such as rapport building, powerful questioning, reframing and effective listening.
– Methods on how to move to agreement
– Full and effective support for mediators before, during and after the completion of the course
– Certified accreditation from a recognised awarding body

Course duration:
5 or 6 days

Up to 3 times a year

Submissions should include:

– A course plan, including content and methods of delivery
– Information on the certificate and awarding body
– A short profile of the presenter(s) who will be delivering the training, including experience in this field
– Design and delivery costs
– Travel, meals and accommodation costs, where applicable
– Two references
– Insurance certificates (see Training Providers Agreement below)

The supplier may also be required to supply additional one-day sessions on general mediation skills for officers, mediation skills for managers and one day refresher training for trained mediators. Evidence of the ability to carry out this training will also be required.

– Printing will need to be managed by the Provider.
– Any materials should also be provided electronically so that it can be used as a reference point.

Interview Date(s): Tuesday 2nd July 2013

Contract Length: The contract allows for repeat commissions within a 3 year period with options to extend for +1 + 1 years at the sole discretion of the Council.

Training Providers Agreement: You must ensure you are able to meet the requirements in the attached Training Providers Agreement as the successful supplier will be required to sign it when the contract is agreed.
