Total quantity or scope of tenderIn the first part, the vessel will fish according to a predefined set of survey stations using the standard survey net. The scientist in charge will be responsible for the programme of scientific work. Fish caught and marketed during the first part of the study will be deducted from the scientific quota allocation, leaving a balance of quota available in the second part. The second part of the study, which must be conducted and completed during the next fishing trip, will involve the vessel operating commercially, using the normal commercial gear and with the skipper taking the decisions for the vessel’s operations. The duration of this trip will be determined by the skipper. During this part of the work there will be a scientific observer on board to collect biological data (similar to routine observer trips undertaken by MSS). During this part of the study, the remaining scientific quota will be available to be used up. Any fish caught and marketed which exceed the balance of the scientific quota will be deducted from the vessel’s normal quota allocation. |
