It is not possible to give a detailed indication of what the works will be included in individual Package Orders, but for guidance purposes, below gives example of some of the potential of what will be required:
Highways: The work will vary in scale and be appropriate to the Lot value but predominately relate to carriageways and foot-ways and will include, but not be limited to: resurfacing, reconstruction, overlays, micro-asphalts, slurry sealing, drainage works, kerbing, flagging, block paving, cobbling, block work, masonry work, fencing and any other construction related activity (including where relevant road marking or lighting) and possible associated work in adjacent land.
There may also be a requirement for the following: Traffic management schemes including routine signing and carriageway markings. Local Safety Schemes including traffic calming work, proprietary surfacing (for example anti-skid), maintenance and repair of all types of existing road restraint systems (including the re-tensioning of cables), foot-way and cycleways maintenance and installation, pedestrian crossings, works associated with traffic signal installations of various kinds, Passenger Transport infrastructure including bus lay-bys, hard standings, associated foot-way works, bus stop poles, signs and information cases, Highway verge crossings and Highways Act Section 38 or Section 278 works on behalf of developers.
Bridges And Structures:
The work will vary in scale and be appropriate to the Lot value but predominately relate to the repair and maintenance of road and foot bridges over road, rail or river, retaining walls, culverts and the like. The work may include, but not be limited to the following: Emergency repairs to bridges and parapets, Emergency repairs to culverts and retaining walls, structural repairs to bridges, culverts and retaining walls, structural dismantling of bridges, culverts and retaining walls, refurbishment and maintenance (inc. painting) of bridges, culverts and retaining walls, new build of bridges, culverts and retaining walls, scour protection for river bridges.
There may also be a requirement to carry out road lighting and or road markings works as part of Package Order.
Flood Risk Management: The work will vary in scale and be appropriate to the Lot value but predominately relate to support with drainage investigations; upgrade and replacement of culverts; remediation of watercourses and land drainage; surface water and groundwater storage; highway infrastructure alterations to improve flood protection; repair and maintenance of minor flood defence structures; installation, repair and maintenance of sustainable drainage systems.
The above list is not an exhaustive list of what works will be included in Package Orders. There may also be a requirement to carry out building works. The scope of works included in Package Orders is likely to vary and may include a combination of the example works listed above. Full details of the individual requirements will be provided to Suppliers as part of the Quotation Procedure.
