Linked to the Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) programme, the service will provide a clinical assessment service (CAS) as part of its core function, ensuring additional clinical input into the NHS 111 and 999 service and acting as a key entry point into local urgent care services to provide effective and timely remote (largely telephone) clinical assessment for people accessing healthcare via our integrated urgent care services — most notably via NHS 111. The CAS will form an integral local component of the wider Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Surrey Heath wide Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) system. The IUC service which has been procured from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) will be providing the NHS 111 service to Southampton patients alongside a small number of clinical desks that are best provided at scale. The CAS is expected to go live on 1 June 2021.
