Construction works for power plants and heating plants. Construction work for university buildings. The existing campus has its own district heating system and HV distribution networks that provide heat and power throughout the campus. The existing campus energy centre is located in Ashton Street and this facility contains three 12Mw gas fired boilers and a 3.4 Mw gas engine CHP. The existing district heating network has separate high and low temperature networks.
The new CHP facility will be located in the vacant redundant boiler house (Building 357) that is connected to the Old Royal Infirmary. This building has a grade 2 listing by association with the Royal Infirmary. The contract works will comprise: the external refurbishment of the boiler house building (Building 357); the alteration works to accommodate two 1.8Mw gas engine CHP plant and their ancillary plant and flues; HV electrical works to interface/connect into the existing network; hydraulic and controls interface works with the existing infrastructure.

The submitted PQQ will be evaluated to produce a shortlist of companies who will be invited to tender. On evaluation of the tender submissions a further shortlist may be produced to select companies who may be invited to attend for interview as part of the process. Selection of the Contractor will be by panel who will look for experience working on similar CHP engineering projects, CHP maintenance and construction refurbishment contracts involving listed buildings. The panel will also evaluate the ability to meet the intended programme and costs.
All dates, time periods and quantities indicated in this Notice are provisional only and ULEC reserves the right to change the same if circumstances so dictate.
