Description of the contract

The aim is to create a framework application for our Computer Information Points,(terminals which offer in-depth information on the gallery content) that can be adapted to a variety of configurations.

CIPs is Science Museum digital “book”, it has a sections, chapters and pages structure.

The CIP framework should encompasses both a front end, the gallery software (both Mac and Windows versions) and a back end, graphical based application for Science Museum teams to shape and input content.

CIPs are usually controlled using a single touch touchscreen or on occasion a trackerball but also, we will probably require them to work on multitouch devices including gestural control.

All major settings for a CIP should be held in a separate editable XML file – this should include things such as making the cursor visible/invisible, the time in seconds of the timeout

Background and Audience

The primary audience for the editing application is the Science Museum Content teams who would use this tool to create quick and simple CIPs throughout the museum.

CIP have an attractor screen and a “home” page.

Historically CIP can have up to 6 sections, all having up to 6 chapters, which contain an undefined number of pages. Content developers traditionally put between 4 and 10 pages per chapter.
