Description of the contract
NHSBT is seeking a provider to design and deliver a Targeted Development Programme for BME and disabled staff at a Head of Department/Assistant Director/Director type level (i.e. at the equivalent level to AfC Band 8a & above) To take part in this process you will need to be able to provide evidence in the form of case studies and/or other relevent documentation of similar projects undertaken in the last 3 years at a Senior/Executive level, preferably within large organisations (over 5000 staff) and ideally within a like sector. You will need to be able to demonstrate your experience of working with and valuing a diverse range of people, including the design, delivery and evaluation of successful targeted development programmes. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is in a period of significant transformational change, and has recognised the importance of identifying and developing a diverse talent pool as good leadership is key to high levels of employee engagement and business transformation. A broad range of leadership development programmes and interventions for front line leaders through to Executive Directors already exist as part of Shine – the framework for NHSBT’s talent management system which encompasses all learning education and development within NHSBT. A review of NHSBT’s Shine system revealed that there is a glass ceiling to development opportunities for disabled and (BME) Black and Minority Ethnic groups. This is further exacerbated by the fact that NHSBT’s senior management tier does not reflect the diversity of the population it serves. Shine is an ambitious people strategy, designed to provide an integrated and systematic approach to talent and leadership development. It is about changing behaviours and attitudes, at individual, team, and organisational level. This will enhance and improve corporate performance through the provision of a diverse pool of talented, high calibre leaders, who will transform NHSBT, enabling the organisation to become the best organisation if its type in the world. This brief is for a targeted development programme specifically designed to address the under representation of BME and staff members with a disability at Assistant Director level and above. The programme is aimed at BME and disabled groups with the potential for future assistant and executive director roles. The programme will identify high potential BME and disabled members of staff and will provide a diverse pool of top talent for NHSBT and the wider NHS.
