Bournemouth Borough Council has been appointed by Dorset County Council and the Borough of Poole to be the leading local authority providing support for the Coroner’s Service in Dorset.
Once a death is reported to him, H M Coroner takes control of the body and may arrange for its removal to a suitable location, including a Mortuary, where he may authorise a post mortem examination to be carried out. The scope of the contract is for suppliers to undertake the collection and transportation of bodies within Dorset to the required location of the H M Coroner. In most cases, this will be to Holly Tree Lodge in Bournemouth.
The framework will run from 1.4.2015 until 31.3.2018. There will also be an option to extend the framework for a further year until 31.3.2019.
