Description of the contract

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is establishing a dedicated Creative Industries Growth Fund. The Fund is aimed at growing the creative industry sector within the borough and creating employment opportunities, work experience, training and apprenticeships for local residents. Support to individuals starting up a business will also be a feature of the programme. PROJECT OUTLINE Funding of up to £100,000 for capital start up costs for a new creative industry manufacturing business will be made available. The key objectives of the Creative Industry Growth Fund are: 1. To establish a new creative industry manufacturing business in the Creative Industry Quarter (CIQ). 2. To create new job opportunities, training, work experience and apprenticeship opportunities to local residents 3. To establish sustainable revolving funds so that funding can be reinvested to unlock further business growth and economic development 4. To support SMEs to grow and develop within the borough 5. To act as an inward investment tool to attract new creative industries into the borough 6. To generate economic activity by improved appearance and enhancing the image of the borough The purpose of this fund is to establish a new creative manufacturing industry in the CIQ. Bids will demonstrate how space at The Granary in Barking and Dagenham’s Creative Industries Quarter will be utilised for a suitable creative industry manufacturing studio. The nature of the loan will be revolving with funds repaid over an agreed length of time that is no longer than three years. Repaid loans will be re-distributed to support other economic business growth activities in Barking and Dagenham BUDGET The total budget is £100,000 which needs to cover every element of the project including equipment and installation. All other running costs are to be provided by the successful bidder. TIMETABLE All funding must be spent by December 2014 but it is the intention that the project starts by the end of 2013. A model for the repayment of the funds must be submitted as part of the bid with a repayment term of no longer than 3 years.
