Wirral Council is seeking a provider to develop and deliver a high quality cultural awareness training programme that enables health and social care practitioners to provide more culturally sensitive services.
This cultural awareness training should increase participants’ understanding of cultural differences and enable them to consider how culture influences how people interact with others and consequently the take up and delivery of services. The training should provide participants’ with the opportunity to review their own practice and consider how they can make their services more culturally sensitive.
The training should be delivered as a half day session (4 hours) and should retain a Wirral focus wherever possible. Please note that e-learning will not be considered.
The training should be highly participative, involving group exercises, case studies and open discussion. The course should also be flexible enough to be tailored to the different learning needs of each group of delegates. Delegates will be asked in advance of the course for any specific questions/ concerns they may have around cultural competency within their workplace/ area of work. Where appropriate these should be addressed within the course to help provide some focus for group discussion and/ or case studies. If it is not feasible to address specific questions or concerns within the course this should be fed back to delegates at the start of each session; however individuals should be signposted to other information sources in order to get a suitable response to their query.
In addition the service will provide administration for the course. It will:
· Recruit appropriate delegates in conjunction with the Commissioners and;
· Develop and administer an effective booking (and reminder) system for delegates
· Develop publicity and a marketing strategy for the service
