Cumbria County Council is inviting tenders for the routine grounds maintenance of all corporate sites Countywide.
The proposed strategy for grounds maintenance for all corporates sites is to procure these on the basis of two geographical areas West — Allerdale, Copeland and Barrow and East — Carlisle, Eden and South Lakes. Sites in scope include Offices, Libraries, Care Homes, Day Centres, Fire Stations and open spaces.
At present there are around 166 sites including offices, care homes, fire stations, day centres and libraries within this contract However, this number may reduce over the term of the contract as the Council implements its asset management and carbon management strategies.

Sites in scope include Offices, Libraries, Care Homes, Day Centres, Fire Stations and open spaces.
At present there are around 166 sites including offices, care homes, fire stations, day centres and libraries within this contract However, this number may reduce over the term of the contract as the Council implements its asset management and carbon management strategies.
The services have been divided into the following geographic areas:
West – Allerdale, Copeland, Barrow
East – Carlisle, Eden, South Lakes
Tenderers are invited to bid for one or both.
The grounds maintenance operations required broadly comprise of:
Grass maintenance – grass cutting and edging
Horticultural maintenance – maintenance of shrub beds and borders, hedge cutting, planting and maintenance of summer bedding
General works — control of weeds, moss and algae on hard areas and litter picking.
Note – not all of the above operations will necessarily be involved on all sites.
The Council proposes to enter into the contract(s) for a maximum period of 2 years plus 1 year option to extend with the successful tenderer(s) (service provider).
