Description of the goods or services required

The Clyde Gateway Urban Regeneration Company (URC)

was established in December 2007. It is a partnership

between Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire

Council, Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish

Government.

Over the next two decades, Clyde Gateway is charged

with leading the way in achieving unparalleled social,

economic and physical change of 2,070 acres which has

been declared a priority in Scotland’s National Planning

Framework. The URC is aimed at restructuring the urban

area and creating a new focus for further private and

public sector investment. South Dalmarnock Integrated

Urban Infrastructure Framework has been prepared by

Clyde Gateway and endorsed by Glasgow City Council.

The framework will act as the catalyst for future

development.

Dalmarnock is to be revitalised as a thriving business

and residential quarter. Inward investment will underpin

the transformation of Dalmarnock as a vibrant mixed use

area supporting employment and providing amenities for

local business and residential communities. The area will

be centred on an upgraded Dalmarnock Station and

public square, served by the East End Regeneration

Route, now known as the Clyde Gateway.

The 2014 Key Routes and Spaces Project brings together

several work packages of public realm, roads, footpaths

and environmental improvements designed to; provide

connectivity between key projects in South Dalmarnock,

a link to the new Shawfield-Dalmarnock Smart Bridge

and new public spaces. The aspiration is for much of the

works to be completed in support of the Commonwealth

Games in 2014 and to provide a legacy which will

support the wider development of Dalmarnock. In so

doing the project requires to strike a balance between

short term interventions, up to 2014, and permanent

works.

Clyde Gateway URC is seeking to appoint a company that

can demonstrate landscape design competency in

delivery of this contract as well the ability to lead and

manage the technical elements of this project. This will

be one of three appointments which will comprise the

design team, the other appointments being cost

consultants and civil engineering design.
