The City Council is seeking to appoint a provider who can support an ambitious programme of change over the next three years whilst maintaining a level of existing provision and a commitment to delivering high quality, flexible services. The Council will provide access to a building (Hurlfield View) for the purpose of providing the majority of the services.
This will include
Year 1
20 Residential Short Term Care Places
A minimum of 270 day support places per week
Year 2
20 Residential Short Term Care Places
A minimum of 70 day support places per week
Year 3
20 Residential Short Term Care Places
A minimum of 70 day support places per week
This will be offered on a block contract for a period of 3 years with a reduction in volume of the commissioned day support service element after the first year.
The reduction in the volume of the building based day support will release resources for the development of more innovative community based support. This will broaden the offer of different types of support for people who use the service, now and in the future, and help deliver the outcomes people want to achieve, rather than investing in a service which does not necessarily meet the needs of a range of different needs.
When working to achieve the reduction however, the City Council will ensure that some places are retained for people who will still require this type of support. This approach to the delivery of dementia services for the future is more aligned to communities and is one which keeps people independent, safe and well.
