Lancaster University is seeking to enter into a single stage design and build contract for the works.
It is anticipated the design will be developed to RIBA Stage D or E by the consultant employed design team and then be completed by the contractor. Members of the design team will be Novated to the contractor.
The Engineering Department are to relocate from their existing building to new facilities. The contract is the design and build of the new facilities on the site of the old sports hall building.
Works to include for new laboratories, workshops, teaching facilities, academic offices, administration offices, stores, common areas and external works.

Planning application for the scheme will be submitted in December 2012 with a tender issue date of December 2012 and an anticipated start on site date of April 2013. An estimated build period of 64 weeks is envisaged.

Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates: A pre-qualification questionnaire will be issued to shortlist the interested suppliers.
This will be used to evaluate their technical, economic and financial suitability under the following headings: Selection of Economic Operators, Organisation Information, Economic and Financial Capability, Technical Capability, Experience, Project Specific Understandings, Health and Safety Issues, Environmental issues, Equal Opportunities and Corporate Responsibility.
All complete questionnaires will be assessed and ranked.
A minimum of the 5 highest ranked candidates who are able to demonstrate the required capability and experience will be invited to tender.
