The project requires the modification of existing landscape incorporating excavation of an existing previously demolished building basement to construct a new Archive Facility for the West Yorkshire Archive Service.
The accommodation will comprise a 3 storey building incorporating archive storey to the top two floors and multi-purpose space to the ground floor including foyer reception with café offer, exhibition space, 2no learning zones, general enquires office and secure search room, conservation studio and all associated supporting facilities.
The project is to be let on a JCT Design and Build Contract 2011 Edition with the objective being to provide a building of high architectural quality in keeping with the surrounding environment and proposed Wakefield Masterplan Project.
The overall project duration will be 10 months for use by the Archive Service in September 2015.
It is the intention of the Council to novate the Design team to the successful contractor.

The Council is seeking to shortlist 5 applicants following the pre qualification process, however, the Council reserves the right to shortlist more than 5 applicants where scores are sufficiently close, up to a maximum of 8.
