Description of the goods or services required

Historic Scotland’s Interpretation Unit within the Visitor Experience Team is seeking to commission a textile designer/ artist (or collaborative group of artists) to undertake the artwork design, fabrication and to oversee the installation of wall hangings or tapestries within the Queen Anne function room at Edinburgh Castle. The physical installation of the tapestries/ wall hanging will be carried out by others.

It is currently anticipated that up to 8 separate wall hangings will be required. The final number and size of each is to be determined in conjunction with the HS Interpretation Unit.

The current function room is light and airy and the tapestry wall hangings are required to bring an element of artistic interpretation and decoration, to enhance the ambience and drama of the space whilst helping to dampen the acoustics of the space.

Partial delivery is required by 31 March 2015. Staged completion schedules will be welcomed.
