Award criteria 70 percent quality and 30 percent cost.

Please note it is intended to appoint a single design team (Architect, Structural, M+E Engineer) for all of the lots related to the Darwin Building Refurbishment.

The appointment is for Lot 1 initially and will roll over to the other four lots detailed above and within the PQQ documentation subject to approval of business plans, funding availability and the satisfactory performance of the design team. Please note the sequence lots may be adjusted depending on the outcome of Lot 1.
Overview of Procurement Exercise
As a first step to awarding the design contract for this project, this prequalification has been drafted in order to assess the ability of the companies who are seeking the appointment. The prequalification is marked out of 66 and the highest 5 companies will be invited to tender. This tender will be a percentage fee of the construction costs and a further questionnaire. Both will be marked and weighted as per award criteria to get a final cost/quality mark.
This appointment is for a Design Team. The Design Team needs to consist of an Architecture Consultant, a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Consultant and a Structural Engineering Consultant (incl. services). It is also anticapted that the Design Team will provide facade engineering advice, landscaping design services and BREEAM advice.
The Lead Consultant will be the Architecture Consultant who will need to have the necessary size and experience for this type of project. This PQQ should be completed by the Lead Consultant.
Any other specialist sub-consultant e.g. the Quantity Surveyor and CDM co-ordinator should be excluded, as they will be appointed directly by the University.
