The Suffolk Record Office (SRO) is considering a procurement to select a provider for the development and implementation of a new website to replace Suffolk Heritage Direct ( The website will be an interactive information source, a marketing tool, a platform to host digitised records, and an e-commerce site for SRO, with the potential to generate revenue and increase the accessibility of SRO collections.
The website will incorporate an upgraded catalogue (residing in ‘CALM’ software) which will enable users to access information about the collection more easily.
Interested parties should be able to demonstrate that they have experience of delivering successful website solutions for local authority archive services, as well as delivering best value, customer service and continuous improvement.
It is our intention to start the process in January 2015. We will require the new website to be ‘live’ by 1.11.2015. The procurement documentation will be made available on and we recommend you register online to have access to the documentation as soon as it is available.
