Description of the contract

The London Health Improvement Board (LHIB) is a priority for a city-wide approach to public health in London (4.16, Healthy Lives, Healthy People: Our strategy for public health in England, November 2010). http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/PublicationsPolicyAndGuidance/DH_121941 In late 2010, the Secretary of State for Health invited The Mayor of London, London Councils and London’s borough leaders to develop proposals for collective work on health improvement in London. London Councils and The Mayor of London wrote to the Secretary of State in early 2011 setting out their jointly agreed proposals for a pan-London approach to health improvement. The proposal to establish a London Health Improvement Board was subsequently agreed by the Secretary of State in March 2011. http://www.lhib.org.uk The LHIB has prioritised three key areas for tackling alcohol related harm in London. • Developing a London vision • Ensure alcohol is supplied responsibly • Early interventions are in place to support those most at risk The London Minimum Standard for the delivery of IBA will be supported by two additional products outlined below: An ‘Evidence of Effectiveness’ case in IBA aimed at local and pan-London decision makers (elected leaders, commissioner, providers and senior managers), to encourage their support and endorsement for commissioning and delivering IBA. • Source and collate content for an on-line ‘one stop shop’ that would provide practitioners delivering IBA with all the necessary tools and resources to effectively and easily deliver IBA. The aim of the ‘London Minimum Standard’ is to provide a standardised approach for professionals delivering IBA on the ground. The Standard will contain a suite of practical actions and considerations for carrying out IBA in different settings in London and support IBA practitioners in meeting outcomes that can be benchmarked and measured Interested bidders should look at the ITT for a full comprehensive specification.
