Description of the contract

Tate has six sites, comprising four galleries and two stores, and holds the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art. Tate’s mission is to promote the public understanding and enjoyment of British, modern and contemporary art. The Transforming Tate Britain: Archives and Access project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund will take Tate’s extensive archive of art and make it accessible to online audiences, through a programme of digitisation, learning and participation. This project will produce a large number of digital images and audio-visual material, and associated metadata, which will all require long-term preservation. There is a requirement for a storage solution that will ensure the long-term preservation and integrity of these digital files. The solution must also be scaleable as Tate has a large volume of other digital assets that will need to be migrated into this storage solution, as well as an increasing volume of digital assets being created and acquired.
