The Council is seeking to appoint a provider for ICT Disaster Recovery Services via a competitive tendering process. The successful bidder will provide both mobile and fixed recovery centres to support a disaster recovery solution over the whole of the Council’s network. Technical staff will be required to assist both during annual testing phases and during any activation of the service. Further, the successful bidder must be able to provide sufficient technical staff, systems and processes in order to perform the entire recovery process should the Council be unavailable or otherwise unable to assist.
The contract will commence in September 2014 and will operate for a minimum of three years with the option to extend up for 2 further years in increments to be agreed, subject to performance and the agreement of all parties.

The Council operates a Wide Area Network for both Council offices and schools across Portsmouth, via a variety of servers. The successful bidder must provide a disaster recovery solution that will enable the recovery of HP & Sun servers and the data related to them from a Tivoli Storage Manager based tape back up.
A minimum of two rehearsal recovery exercises will be required each year and the provider will be required to adapt their systems as necessary following these exercises in order to continue to meet the Council’s Disaster Recovery requirements.
Capability related to supporting VMware, TSM and Veeam back up systems, Sun systems and HP/SAN solutions & systems will be required due to the structure of the Council’s network, however the Council does not wish to prescribe a specific disaster recovery solution beyond this.
