The Healthy Schools Team work with schools countywide to help them achieve a Healthy Schools Status, the criteria that schools are required to meet to achieve Healthy School Status are made up of four key themes;
• Personal, Social & Health Education, including drug, sex and relationship education
• Healthy Eating
• Physical Activity
• Emotional Health & Wellbeing
Schools are asked to record and evidence how they met key criteria as part of a whole schools review for which the team support them as part of our core offer.
Once the schools have achieved a Healthy Schools Status they are asked to select two of the four key themes which they wish to enhance and specialise in. The team provides enhancement training and support in all four key themes. A consultant is required to lead the development and implementation of the PSHE work stream, countywide on behalf of the Healthy Schools Team.
The wider children’s health team is measured principally on the childhood obesity rates in Lincolnshire. Despite encouraging results once children are in school research and data suggest that children and young families need to be targeted before they reach school age. A consultant is required to work with the Healthy Schools team and other agencies focussing on Health Eating standards in Early Years Settings around the county.
A consultant is required to design and deliver a Healthy Eating programme to Early Years settings across the county of Lincolnshire. The consultant will be required to work with Early Years settings at a countywide level to ensure that they have the correct policies and procedures in place as well as meeting the required nutrition standards on site. The consultant will not be required to deliver training on all aspects the Healthy Eating programme individually but will be expected to signpost and/or work with key stakeholders to deliver appropriate training to schools. The Healthy schools team will be working to utilise Early Years settings to deliver key health messages to improve the health outcomes and children and young people across the county, this cannot be done in isolation but in partnership with the wider Public Health Directorate, County Council and other key partners.
