Description of the contract

The Competition and Markets Authority (‘CMA’) wishes to commission an independent economic expert (‘the Expert’) for the purpose of enhancing its expertise in relation to utility sectors where firms are vertically integrated with a particular reference to the energy sector. In particular the CMA seeks to strengthen its understanding of the importance of vertical integration to both downstream (retail) and upstream competition (generation). The Expert will be expected to assist the CMA staff in developing and testing the relevant economic analyses and evidence.
