2.2

Description of the goods or services required

Scottish Government’s Digital Directorate would like to commission research on the economic impact of rolling out next generation access (NGA) broadband infrastructure across Scotland as set out in Scotland’s Digital Future – Infrastructure Action Plan .

The aim of this project is to provide a detailed and robust quantified estimate of the potential economic benefits of rolling out NGA broadband infrastructure across Scotland. The estimates will be used by Scottish Minsters and Scottish Government officials as evidence of the impact of public sector investment in NGA broadband in Scotland.

As such, we require, robust evidence on the economic impact of NGA broadband in the following areas:

– Contribution to GDP growth;

– Employment and job creation;

-Business benefits with a specific focus on the impact on firm level productivity and efficiencies; and

– Consumer and community benefits.

We would also like the research to assess the economic impact of NGA infrastructure investment in rural Scotland specifically.
