The University needs to expand video editing provision by 22 additional PC workstations. Currently on the main university IT network, workstations will be for Adobe use only. The university is adopting Adobe as the main video production software with FCPx and AVID as secondary supported products The project will: • Provide an additional 32TB Editshare Extreme server • Increase the overall video workstation capacity from 22 to 50 seats • Increase the overall server bandwidth to cope with 50mbps streams to the above seats • Increase server bandwidth to allow for four workstations running 100mbps streams • Increase the overall Editshare storage capacity • Increase access to Adobe suite on both PC and Mac workstations (university holds site licence) • Maintain access to AVID composer on both PC and Mac workstations (up to 22 licences) • Improve the support for FCPx on existing Mac workstations (up to 20 licences) • Maintain export options from all edit systems to the TV studio vision mixers • Maintain Existing DVD/ Blu Ray burning solutions • Maximise existing workstation hardware capabilities • Update existing editing software versions as required • Update existing OS systems as required • Integrate additional software: garage band, cinema 4D( licenses provided by the university) • Provide workstation disc images for the purpose of desktop restore in case of failure • Provide on-going hardware product support • Provide on-going software support • Provide a list of recommended supported codecs and maximum data rates • Provide Flow to improved ARK file retrieval • Provide training in the use of Flow and other MAM software • Provide additional, advanced, MAM software for management and archive purposes • Provide file structuring and workflow documentation to assist student productions • Provide recommendations for a long term archive solution • Update all necessary software and hardware to deliver a reliable, expandable, integrated, video editing and production solution
