Description of the contract

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) is a new executive agency of the Department of Education. It requires Operational Associates to work with the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Assessment Team, challenging and supporting ITT providers to mitigate risks to quality of provision during the highest risk points in their lifecycle – specifically upon accreditation, and during closure, to improve the quality of ITT. You will need to register on the National College Operational Associates Framework by 10 June 2013. We will be inviting bids from those successfully approved onto the National College Operational Associates Framework for this requirement, which will be launched on the following framework(s): CB32 and CB41. Please see below for details of how to register on the Framework. The role NCTL have identified a need for Operational Associates with expertise in ITT, in particular improving the quality of ITT and bringing challenge and focus to ITT providers. The Operational Associates will work in collaboration with DfE officials to improve the quality of ITT and ultimately improve teaching in schools. The role will include supporting NCTL by: • Working directly with new ITT providers, supporting and challenging ITT provision during the first year of delivery to ensure quality is continually improving. • Working with NCTL officials to ensure that issues relating to compliance and quality are dealt with appropriately to drive improvements or ensure accreditation is withdrawn where appropriate. • Working directly with closing providers, ensuring that training quality is upheld during the closure process. Operational Associates will be expected to support the further development of self-improvement capacity within the ITT sector to share good practice and interpret, inform and shape the implementation of policies and priorities. The contract covers a maximum of 100 days from June 2013 to March 2014 inclusive. The number of days each Operational Associate will work will depend on the number of successful bids. The minimum number of days could be zero.
