Description of the contract
This contract is to provide electrical installation and maintenance support combined with other healthcare related systems support to supplement the Trust’s directly employed work force. The contract will include an allowance for day rate works during normal working hours, weekend day rates, bank holiday rates, an on call retainer for providing out of hours on call service, and call out rates whilst covering on call. Typical Tasks to be undertaken : • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and engineering installation, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others • Manufacture, assemble, erect, install and test new work • To take on role of an Authorised Person (AP) for a range of systems including LV electrical systems. • Perform electrical testing and inspection of fixed electrical systems and monitor results to ensure compliance with the latest edition of Wiring Regulations BS7671. Requesting remedial works or emergency isolations as and when required. • Carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment • Liaise with company representatives regarding the operation, repair and servicing of specialist equipment and implement contracts as necessary to ensure the best service with respect to cost, quality and performance is achieved. • Participate as required by the Estates Officer (operations) in the emergency “on-call” system • To report to their Supervisor any maintenance defects observed, and being forward any suggestions they may have to improve the maintenance service • Report faulty or damaged equipment • To assist as a member of the Trust’s fire response team when on duty. The contractor must have a sound knowledge of an acute Hospital environment, and be familiar with an NHS Hospital Estates Department policies and procedures, it’s engineering systems, their locations and their criticality and functionality. Experience of working in a multi skilled role across more than one skill set is essential as is experience of management of electrical works and other healthcare specific engineering works.
