Emergency Tree Works Contract 2021 – Kent
Provision of emergency response specialist tree surgery teams to attend at short notice on a 24/7 basis.
Kent County Council (the Council) is the largest local authority in England, covering an area of 3,500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over £1bn on goods and services and a population of 1.5m. The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with twelve district councils and 309 parish and town councils. The Council consists of three operational directorates (Adult Social Care & Health, Children, Young People & Education; and Growth, Environment & Transport) and one service directorate (Strategic and Corporate Services). This requirement is for Emergency Tree Works services within the Growth, Environment and Transport (GET) Directorate. The Contractor will be responsible for the provision of emergency response specialist tree surgery teams to attend at short notice on a 24/7 basis. Emergency type response times will include both 2-hour and 24-hour requirements. Suppliers will be required to provide suitably qualified staff and have access to the necessary specialised plant and equipment to be able to remove fallen or dangerous trees and branches from causing obstruction to the highway. Moreover, the ability to work at height in a safe manner, using appropriate working methods to remove broken or hanging branches and fallen or hung-up trees presenting a danger to the highway is a necessity.
