Description
As part of the SmartTravel Cambridgeshire initiative, the Council would like to understand what providers can offer in terms of innovative multi-modal journey planning tools during this year, for delivery by December 2015. . Cambridgeshire is the fastest growing county in the country, and the transport network already experiences significant capacity issues.
To support the future growth of the area, the Council is looking for ways to help increase use of sustainable transport where possible. As part of this, the Council would like to assess the market capability for providing smart journey planners that incorporate real time data sets and can improve the accuracy of multi-modal journey time predictions. This will help enable people to make their everyday journeys using multiple modes of transport – including public transport as well as walking and cycling. An important objective is to encourage modal shift towards sustainable transport modes
Anything the Council commissions would ideally be on the basis of the end product being completely open source, available to others to develop further and available across a range of mobile device platforms.
