Description

An evaluative research project regarding the effectiveness of a therapeutic fostering team. The team is called Fostering Futures and is a specialist part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s fostering service. The therapeutic foundation of the team’s work is located in attachment theory and its practice in attachment-based interventions such as Theraplay ® and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).The research project will evaluate the following requirements aspects of the team:-
• The background, experience and specialist knowledge of its foster carers and social workers
• The effectiveness of the team’s therapeutic foundation in establishing a ‘secure base’ for children ‘looked after’ by its foster carers
• A longitudinal aspect to the research with regard to the development of the children ‘looked after’ by the team’s foster carers
The research has potential links with research which will be undertaken on the subject of DDP in the near future.
The researchers will report back to the County Council on their findings.
There is potential from this project for the researchers to develop academic papers and possibly further research.
