North Notts Business Improvement District (BID) is the UK’s first, area-wide, Place Shaping Business Improvement District. A key part of the BID’s mandate is to improve footfall in town centres.

In order to achieve this, we are looking for an events management company who can undertake a series of events across the district of Bassetlaw. These will take place primarily in the four key towns of Worksop, Retford, Harworth and Tuxford but may include events in rural and industrial areas.

Examples of potential events that require support and planning include:
• Annual Christmas events
• Town Centre events such as ‘Worksop by
the Sea’
• A large North Notts business showcase
event involving other partners including East
Midlands Chamber, North Notts Place Board
and Bassetlaw District Council
• A host of minor events from sourcing street
entertainers to St George’s Day parades
• Food Festivals

This list is not exhaustive and events will be decided by the North Notts BID and the local business forums and town Councils. The District Council has indicated that it will support the use of it’s facilities such as parks and market places for the delivery of a programme of events.
The successful bidder must be able to demonstrate:

• Clear experience of managing and
delivering a wide range of events of all sizes
• Produce Events Management plans in
accordance with health and safety
• Advise and procure all the measures
necessary for each event, for example:
o Marshalls
o First aiders
o security
o Street closure measures
o Appropriate insurances
o Staging, PA and other equipment
o Ancillary items (fireworks, snow machines)
• Liaise with police, highways, emergency
services, stakeholders
• Work closely with local business groups
(e.g. business forums), community groups as
• Flair, imagination and creativity
• Full marketing plans and activities per event
• A robust mechanism to measure impact,
success and outcomes by event

The contract will initially be for 3 years.

Companies submitting a tender should provide:

• A single management fee to cover all the
items under heading 3. This fee should cover
all the management costs for staff involved in
the organisation of the events, including
travel, subsistence and all necessary
documentation, registrations and licences as
• A second schedule of itemised costs should
be provided, which will include the costs of
event delivery such as staging, trees, etc.
• Details of how you intend to precure
sponsorship from the private sector to cover
delivery costs, ensure private sector
engagement and contribute towards the
management fee.
