Description

Leicester City Council is seeking bids from reputable and suitably qualified organisations to provide External Building Conditions Survey services.

The surveys are being undertaken as part of the development of a Heritage Lottery Funded scheme called the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI).

Scope of works

A Consultant will be appointed to undertake external conditions surveys of the following properties:

•14 and 18 Friar Lane
•24 – 26 Friar Lane
•9 – 11 Millstone Lane
•17 Millstone Lane
•25 Millstone Lane
•The Mill, 27 – 29 Millstone Lane
•2 Wycliffe Street and 28 Friar Lane
•Three townhouses on New Street

The works should be compliant with latest relevant guidance. Final condition survey reports should include full estimates of costing for works identified.

A suggested schedule of works is provided within the detailed specification. In brief, the consultant will be expected to undertake the following:

• Visit the THI area (see attached map) and carry out a visual inspection of selected buildings within that area.
• Internal access to buildings will be arranged by the Project Officer where necessary to assess damage on upper floors. Otherwise, the visual inspection should be carried out from ground level in publicly accessible areas only, and cover elevations visible within the public realm.
• Produce an illustrated report detailing the condition of each building, as well as the following:

• Details of repair work
• Costs for repair works
• Details for restoration of original features
• Costs for restoration of original features

This should be returned by 17.00hrs on 14/03/2014 at the very latest.
