A full external review of Aberystwyth University farms and their current operations and management is required by Professor Wayne Powell, Director of the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, Aberystwyth University.
This will build upon the “PROMAR” report commissioned in 2003 now almost 10 years old and prior to the formation of IBERS and the integration of Gogerddan and Trawsgoed farms into the University.
The AU Farms review should include the following :-
An inventory of AU Farms, land and related assets.
An estimate of the commercial rental value of AU farms land and facilities.
A detailed analysis of current agricultural activities with a full breakdown of costs and anticipated income from current activities versus possible alternative use of IBERS Farm land and resources to achieve best value.
A full review and breakdown of current AU Farm-related research and teaching activities to establish the core needs and facilities needed to discharge these responsibilities currently and into the future.
Based on the above the recommended best possible use and value available from AU Farms and resources.
Provide advice on potential strategies and tactics based on comparable operations in the University sector to generate a profitable and sustainable farm operation.
Advice on potential diversification activities in order to secure and maximise AU Farms income.

It is expected that the final report will be completed and submitted to Professor Powell by Friday the 8th of March , 2013.
